While leisurely driving home from work yesterday afternoon on Capitol Ave, think about the rest of the day and planning my evening routine, I looked over to me right....
This lady comes out from the cross street and accelerated into the right rear end of my car!!! Can you believe it!! She hit my car so hard, I lost control and veered off to the right side of the street, hit the curb, Jumped the Curb! Landed onto the sidewalk and someone's lawn and finally was stopped by the lovely fence that dented up the FRONT of my now poor little car!
Wow what an experience that was....
Now I've spent all morning on the phone in constant communication with the other insurance company trying to get them to get me a rental car, and boy has it been hard. They keep putting me on the back burner and I keep telling them I NEED A CAR!! Of course I said it in a nice way but you can understand my dilemma.
They keep telling me that they need to talk to the other lady...well they never called her. So I called back an hour later, they never called her... I call back again and finally the nice lady I spoke to said she would take care of it as soon as she got off the phone with me. What a morning!
I don't recommend getting into accidents but if it's not your fault, it will turn out to your favor. Hallelujah!
I might be able to get a new car out of this depending on the cost of the repairs. In my estimate the entire front end and front tires need to be replaced as well as the entire back end and then some. There could also be damage to things I can't see like denting of the undercarriage from impact or something like that. Thankfully my Uncle is my insurance agent and advocate so he will make sure that I get the best possible end of this whole situation.
Although the lady was nice that hit me, she didn't even say sorry! All she said is that she didn't see me and that she was going to file a complaint against the city about the foliage that was blocking the view of the street.
Umm....I take the 'nice lady' part. I just got off the phone with the insurance company and they told me that the 'lady' can't remember what happened and now we have to wait till the police report comes out in about ten days!
This is rather frustrating, I'll keep you updated. In the meantime here are pics.

Sometimes it takes a few days or even weeks for injury to show up. Be aware of your neck and back and take note if you start getting pain in these areas. You may be entitled to settling on an amount for possilbe physio, massage etc.
Thank God you were not hurt as it would seem, just keep observing yourself Maria..
Take Care,

Thanks Mer!
You are so kind, It was a pleasure spending time with Sarah and Star at PEAK but I missed you and hope to see you in the near future.
Thanks for all the advice, I really need it.
thank goodness you weren't hurt maria! god was looking out for ya =)
Thanks Alex and I definitely felt the hand of God keeping me safe. There was literally 2 feet between the fence and the side of the apartment where I hit the fence. I'm very fortunate that there wasn't a car parked on the side of the road or a pole or another tree! God was definitely with me!
Definitely not severe damage to the vehicle (per the photos), but because it's on multiple panels, it could very well be a total loss. Be careful when it's not your company, as you want to be treated with fairness and equity. If they still don't get you a rental, you are entitled to one if your vehicle is not driveable (and in a shop). Anyhow... talk to me off-line. Hello! Former Claims Adjuster here.... Glad you are okay!!
James,
There is a buckling in the right rear panel that they may just total it out right there. Fortunately my Uncle is my insurance agent and I have good people like you and others to give me good advice.
At this point we have to wait for the police report to come out and that may take all week or God could do a miracle and it could be out today! She is claiming she doesn't remember what happened so I'm stuck cause I don't have car rental coverage on my insurance...trying to save a buck or two...
I hate tailgaters, I am sorry to hear about you car. I don't let people tailgate, not matter how upset they get with me. Most people don't pay attention when they are driving and tend to get incredibly selfish and egocentric.
Aaron,
Fortunately I wasn't hurt. Actually the lady pulled out from a side street so I don't think she was tailgating in the sense that you're talking about. She is closed mouth bout everything which is frustrating. Oh and I don't know if I'll be able to get to BC practice this Wed.... no car...
I heard that you had got a rental car because of an accident that you got in, I am so happy that you are ok! Just remember everything will work out in the end, God always provides for His people!
